Central Indiana is home to tons of great parks and trails for runners and cyclists of all abilities. But it’s easy to get stuck in a routine of the same old routes you’ve run a hundred times. That’s why I am starting a weekly video series where I showcase a Central Indiana park that is ideal for training runs.
This week I am kicking things off at West Park in Carmel, Indiana. I discovered this park earlier this year and it has since become a favorite of mine for getting in a quick 5k workout. The trails are scenic and quiet, and there is even a hill where you can get in a hill workout (local runners will know how hard it is to find a good hill to run in Hamilton County). It also helps that this park is just a few miles from my office.
As with most parks in the area, there are the basic amenities that runners will appreciate: real bathrooms (as in an actual building, not just a port-o-john) and multiple water fountains. On particularly hot days you can also run through a Splash Park to cool off. The Splash Park is open Memorial Day through Labor Day between 10am and 7pm.
Check back next Tuesday for another 90 Second Park Spotlight!
Cheers,
Chris
