Back on My Feet Marathon Relay

This year was the fourth year I’ve run the Back on My Feet Indianapolis 42k Relay.  Over the years I have raced this competitively on 2 and 4 person teams, as well as just for fun on a 2 person team with my wife.  However you decide to get your #RelayStyle on, this race is always a good time!

The relay takes place at White River State Park in downtown Indy where teams of runners set up camp on the bridge that goes from the park to the zoo.  This makes for a really fun start/finish line area with lots of cheering, music, and food.  From here runners head out on a 2.2 mile loop that goes out along the white river and comes back through the park.

This year 330 runners competed on 71 teams in what ended up being perfect October weather.  There were also 7 Joseph Maley Foundation athletes participating this year which was really cool to see.

This race attracts runners of all ages and abilities – from the super competitive all the way to kids and teams that just want to dress up in costumes and have a fun race.

This year the relay brought in over $25,000 to benefit Back on My Feet Indianapolis.

If you haven’t heard of this organization be sure to check them out.  Their mission is to help those who are overcoming homelessness get back on their feet through a running program.  I highly suggest you join them for a group run, you can learn more about that on their website at indianapolis.backonmyfeet.org.

Congrats to all the runners who competed and I hope to see you all there next year!
