5k Races and Wine!

Back in April I had the pleasure of meeting the Fun-Races.com folks at the Carmel Marathon expo.  I was filming some footage of the expo while also hanging out at the Fit Livin’ booth.  We talked about some video ideas and the various races they put on.  So I was excited when they said they would like me to run and film at their Wine Run Series call Red, White, & Rosé!

The first race was held at Harmony Winery in Fishers, Indiana and the weather could not have been better.  The temp started out in the 60s (perfect!), and blue skies, white clouds, and a bright sun quickly warmed things up.  Prior to the race start, several runners participated in the free yoga routine to loosen up.

The races kicked off with the quarter marathon (about 100 runners), followed shortly by the larger crowd for the 1/8 marathon (just over a 5k).  The course started with a quick stretch down Allisonville Road, then in through some neighborhood streets and sidewalks as part of a large loop back to the finish line at Harmony.

The finish line quickly became party central.  Cold beverages were the drink of choice after warming up during a 5k, so the bottles of white and blush were going quickly.  Bier brewery was also on site with some ice cold beverages.  In addition to the standard race fare (bananas, granola bars, bottled water, etc.) there were also cookies from a local bakery to enjoy.  Overall, this is the kind of race where you come prepared to hang out and enjoy yourself after the finish line.

As I write this post there are 3 races left in the series.  Here are their locations and dates (each linked to registration pages):

Blackhawk Winery | 9/17/26 | Sheridan, Indiana

Cedar Creek Winery | 10/22/16 | Martinsville, Indiana

Butler Winery | 11/5/16 | Bloomington, Indiana

Cheers!
